At the Prince Edward Island Military Family Resource Centre (PEI MFRC), we believe that every Veteran family deserves to feel supported, connected, and valued. Our team is dedicated to walking beside families as they navigate the unique transitions that come with military service and the shift to civilian life. We're looking for a compassionate Veteran Family Program Coordinator who brings both professional skills and personal understanding of military life-a combination that helps us offer care that truly resonates.
Why This Role Matters
Veteran families know resilience, but transitions-whether it's a new community, a change in identity, or life after service-can bring new challenges. As our Veteran Family Program Coordinator, you'll be a steady presence and trusted guide, helping families find the right supports, strengthening community connections, and ensuring every interaction feels welcoming and meaningful.
What Makes Working Here Special
- A strong sense of purpose - Every day, you'll help Veterans and their families feel seen, supported, and empowered.
- Supportive teamwork - You'll be part of a close-knit group that collaborates, celebrates wins together, and lifts each other up.
- A welcoming workplace - We value empathy, respect, and inclusion, creating space for you to bring your authentic self to work.
- Growth and balance - We encourage balance between personal and professional life, along with opportunities for growth and development.
- Meaningful benefits - We offer a 5% matching RRSP program, a wellness benefit, and medical and dental benefits, because caring for our team and their families matters just as much as caring for our community.
What You'll Do
- Support Veteran families with empathy and care, providing guidance, referrals, and follow-up during times of transition or challenge.
- Build genuine connections through proactive outreach and regular communication.
- Plan and facilitate workshops, events, and outreach activities that foster connection and understanding.
- Collaborate with community partners to promote awareness of Veteran family life and strengthen local networks of support.
- Contribute to program planning, data management, and reporting to ensure effective and responsive service delivery.
- Provide backup to the Military Family Program Coordinator as needed to maintain seamless service.
What You Bring
- Lived experience in the military lifestyle (required).
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Social Services, Mental Health, Human Services, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience).
- Demonstrated experience in front-line family or community services.
- Certifications in CPR & Standard First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Intervention, and Crisis Intervention.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Comfort using digital tools, including Microsoft Office and CRM databases (e.g., Penelope), and social media for outreach.
- Ability to travel throughout PEI and work some evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver's license.
- Bilingual ability (English essential; French an asset).
