Position Summary:

The Provincial Peer Support Coordinator, as a non-clinical role guides, mentors, and supports Peer Support Workers employed across the provincial IYS hubs. The role ensures that peer support services across the network are delivered according to NB-IYS values, principles, and best practices.

The Provincial Peer Support Coordinator leads provincial peer support standards and promotes consistent, high?quality, youth- and family-engaged peer support across NB-IYS. This includes guiding hubs in integrating peer support roles effectively within multidisciplinary teams, coordinating professional development, supporting fidelity to the NB-IYS peer support model, and contributing to youth and family engagement initiatives across the network.

The role also contributes to evaluation, continuous improvement, and collaboration across health, social, and community supports, and participates actively in relevant working groups and provincial initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Provincial Peer Support Leadership

· Provide guidance, coaching, mentorship, and best?practice support to Peer Support Workers across all NB-IYS hubs.

· Promote and uphold peer support values, ethics, and principles across the network.

· Support hubs in effectively integrating peer support roles within multidisciplinary teams.

· Offer consultation and guidance to hub leadership on peer role implementation and alignment with best practices.

· Coordinate and facilitate regular provincial peer learning sessions, reflective practice opportunities, and communities of practice.

· Support youth and family/caregiver engagement initiatives related to peer leadership and lived experience involvement.

Program Coordination & Collaboration

· Lead provincial coordination of peer support activities across hubs to ensure consistency and collaboration.

· Maintain strong relationships with NB-IYS partners, community agencies, and provincial stakeholders.

· Represent NB-IYS peer support at community events, presentations, and provincial working groups.

· Support communication and information-sharing across the network related to peer support and youth/family engagement.

Program Development, Standards, and Quality

· Lead the development, refinement, and ongoing updating of NB-IYS peer support standards, guidelines, and best practices.

· Monitor adherence to peer support principles and recommend improvements where needed.

· Identify system- and program-level trends and provide recommendations to NB-IYS leadership.

· Support implementation of quality improvement initiatives, ensuring services remain youth- and family-centered.

· Collaborate with NB-IYS evaluation staff on data collection, program evaluation, and outcomes tracking.

Professional Development & Capacity Building

· Stay informed on emerging best practices in youth peer support, mental health, and substance use.

· Engage in professional communities, associations, and networks as available and maintain an in-depth knowledge of available resources in the community.

· Provide training as required to hubs and peer support workers.

· Coordinate and deliver ongoing training, orientation, and professional development for Peer Support Workers.

· Support hubs in establishing environments that foster effective peer roles, psychological safety, and lived-experience leadership.

· Promote a provincial culture of continuous learning, reflective practice, and shared leadership.

Administration, Reporting & Evaluation Support

· Develop and refine program procedures, guidelines, and best practices.

· Lead or support policy development and ensure adherence to policies.

· Work closely with the NB-IYS team to ensure effective data collection and evaluation practices.

· Contribute to reports, documentation, presentations, and communication materials.

· Support consistent and appropriate documentation practices among Peer Support Workers.

· Promote adherence to confidentiality and data management standards in collaboration with hubs.

· Assist with tasks related to budgeting, coordination, or planning for the provincial peer support portfolio.

Other Responsibilities

· Contribute to provincial initiatives, working groups, and projects that strengthen peer support and youth/family engagement.

· Perform additional duties as required to support the mission and goals of CMHA-NB and NB-IYS.

Qualifications:

· Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social sciences, community development, mental health and addictions, youth work, social services, psychology), or an equivalent combination of training and lived experience.

· Minimum 2-4 years of experience working in peer support, youth engagement, family engagement, or related community mental health roles.

· Experience providing guidance, mentorship, or capacity building to peers, colleagues, or teams.

· A combination of professional competencies, work experience, and education will be considered.

· Training or certification in facilitation, coaching, or mentorship is an asset.

· Demonstrated Lived experience with mental health/substance use recovery, or related challenges and willingness to share the experiences, in a purposeful, professional, and intentional way, with the ability to model hope and resilience is an asset.

· Certification in peer support training is an asset.

· Experience with multi-disciplinary health care teams and primary care is a significant asset.

· Proficiency in both English and French languages is mandatory.

· Relevant professional, educational, or training certificates (ASIST, Changing Minds, NVCI, Mental Health First Aid, etc.) are assets.

· Workplace First Aid / CPR certification or willingness to be trained is an asset.

· A valid Work Permit is mandatory for temporary residents.

· Residency in New Brunswick (NB) or willingness to relocate is mandatory.

· A new Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.

Working Conditions:

· Work Environment:

o Primarily based in an office setting with flexibility for remote work as needed.

· Work Hours:

o 37.5 hours per week.

o Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
