Overview: Established in St. John's 2015, MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC (formally Altera (Atlantic) Management ULC) was developed from a regional shipping company into one of the world's largest marine energy, transportation, storage, and production companies. MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC nature of business is the provision of crude oil marine transportation services and the operation/management of crude oil shuttle tankers operating on the East Coast of Canada.
MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the position below.
Position: Fitter
Rotation: Five weeks on/off
Status: Permanent
Position Summary
The Fitter is responsible for welding, assembling, fitting and installing metal pieces in accordance to relevant work orders as directed by the 1st Engineer.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- 3+ years experience in rank
- Transport Canada Engine Room Rating (COC)
- Transport Canada Basic Tanker Safety (Oil) Endorsement
- Transport Canada STCW Basic Safety and Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft
- Transport Canada STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
- Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
- Knowledge of Dynamic Positioning Vessel operations
Valid Passport
Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
Responsibilities:
- Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
- Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
- Fabrication and welding experience
- Able to perform all welding tasks and related fabrication and finishing processes
- Able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements
- Knowledge engine room systems
- Knowledge of fuel and oil transfers
- Capable of working with minimal supervision
- Taking part in emergency and occupational onboard training such as, the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, firefighting, and man overboard exercises.
- Demonstrate safety awareness
