Overview: Established in St. John's 2015, MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC (formally Altera (Atlantic) Management ULC) was developed from a regional shipping company into one of the world's largest marine energy, transportation, storage, and production companies. MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC nature of business is the provision of crude oil marine transportation services and the operation/management of crude oil shuttle tankers operating on the East Coast of Canada. MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the position below.

Position: 2nd Engineer

Rotation: Five weeks on/off

Status: Permanent

Position Summary

The 2nd Engineer is responsible for the planning and supervision of preventive maintenance activities and repairs to the ship's machinery, equipment, and systems.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

  • 3+ years experience in rank
  • Transport Canada Engineer Class 4 Endorsement
  • Transport Canada Tanker Advanced Safety (Oil) Endorsement
  • Transport Canada STCW Basic Safety, Survival craft other than a fast rescue craft, and Advanced Fire Fighting
  • Transport Canada STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
  • Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
  • High Voltage
  • Valid Passport
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

Responsibilities:

  • Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
  • Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
  • Able to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the engine room equipment and machinery
  • Knowledge of fuel and oil transfers
  • Taking part in emergency and occupational onboard training such as, the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, firefighting, and man overboard exercises.
  • Act as the Safety Officer (SO) on board and responsible for all duties related to this role.
  • Demonstrate safety awareness
