Steele Auto Group Head Office is looking for an Accountant to manage the financial operations across multiple companies. As an Accountant, you will take ownership of month end processes and reporting, reconciliations, payroll and CRA remittances while ensuring strong financial controls and accurate, actionable insights for leadership.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will handle budgeting, financial analysis, and process improvements, while supporting operational teams. You will also provide leadership within the finance team, coaching others, executing projects, and collaborating across departments to keep our multi-company operations running smoothly.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm Location: This role is hybrid, with regular on-site hours at Steele Auto Group Head Office. Compensation: commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience.What you will be doing:
- Lead and support the month end close process across multiple companies
- Prepare and post general ledger entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Assist with consolidated reporting and internal reporting for leadership
- Manage CRA remittances, Tax submissions, and payroll related reporting
- Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
- Complete account reconciliations and financial analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Maintain month end and year end working papers and support audits or financial reviews
- Contribute to project planning, process improvements, and financial initiatives
- Provide team leadership, coaching, and support to accounting staff
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
