NL Health Services has two full time Clinical Assistant - General Surgery positions available at Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, NL.

Carbonear General Hospital is situated in the town of Carbonear. Carbonear is a beautiful rural town about 100 kilometers outside of St. John?s. There are many amenities in the area, such as hiking, a swimming pool, soccer pitch and biking/walking trails, restaurants, local theatre and shopping.

Job Summary

NL Health Services Eastern Rural Zone is inviting applications for a Clinical Assistant position within the General Surgery department.

The successful application will join the General Surgery team as a Clinical Assistant, supporting physicians in the delivery of comprehensive surgical care. Responsibilities include assisting with outpatient clinics, inpatient rounds, admissions and discharges, coordination of patient follow-up, participation in family meetings, and other clinical duties within the scope of the Clinical Assistant license.

In addition to core responsibilities, the role will include providing surgical assistance in the operating room for General Surgery procedures. The Clinical Assistant will also participate in the after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call schedule, providing support across all surgical specialties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for licensure as a Clinical Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) Home - CPSNL
  • Satisfy credentialing requirements of Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

Hours of Work
75 hours biweekly plus on call obligations

Remuneration
This is a full-time salaried position. Pay will be in accordance with Newfoundland and Labrador Memorandum of Agreement. The Department of Health will determine what step you will start at based on experience.

Relocation

NL Health Services is prepared to provide assistance to offset expenses related to relocation contingent on the execution of a return-in-service agreement. To be eligible for reimbursement, the incumbent must remain employed with NL Health Services for a period of 24 worked months. Relocation expenses will be approved in accordance with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Relocation Policy.
