Job Summary
The Clinical Physiotherapist I is part of the interdisciplinary health care team on the units assigned, and attends rounds and family meetings for coordination of care and discharge planning. Team communication as it pertains to attainment of patient goals and discharge planning is expected.
This position will provide physiotherapy services within St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, with potential to cross sites. This position will work in the Surgery Program, providing physiotherapy services within the program as needed. The incumbent is also responsible for participation in activities of the Program and the profession within NL Health Services that contribute to a Healthy Workplace and a safe environment for patients and staff. Weekend coverage and/or on-call service is required on a rotational basis. This position reports to the Division Manager, General Surgery & Thoracic at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. Clinical consultation is available from the Clinical Physiotherapist II and III's at the site. Supervision and delegation to Physiotherapy Support Workers/Rehab Assistants and student preceptorship is an expectation. The PT will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NL Health Services.
This position maintains accountability for professional integrity issues to the Professional Practice Consultant for the discipline.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy Program is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapist (NLCP) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in a one to one and/or group environment.
Ability to direct, supervise and mentor students and physiotherapy support workers.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an inter-professional team and be able to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
