About the Department/Region
Context:
The Information Technology (IT) Department ensures that the corporations IT infrastructure, security, software and communications needs are met. The Infrastructure and Operations section manages and maintains all IT infrastructure including network, LAN/WAN, communication/collaboration systems, servers, storage, business applications, databases and cloud services. This team also provides hardware and software support, including operation of the NLHC's corporate IT helpdesk. The Systems Development section designs, develops, implements and maintains new and upgraded software solutions, manages the acquisition/installation and upgrade of software from external vendors, provides software training in corporate systems, performs application support to end users, develops and maintains the corporation's data and reporting. The Security section ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's IT systems and data. It is responsible for securing the network, detecting and responding to cybersecurity threats, and implementing security protocols and policies.

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure and Operations, the IT Infrastructure Designer is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and support of the organization's datacenter, network, and cloud infrastructure. The position provides technical leadership to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with organizational standards and industry best practices.
The IT Infrastructure Designer is accountable for the following:
Ensuring the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of datacenter, network, and cloud infrastructure
Designing and implementing server, storage and network solutions
Administering Microsoft 365 services, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams
Managing access for on-premises and cloud platforms
Implementing and supporting network routing, switching, wireless, and related security controls
Performing system backups, recoveries, and disaster recovery planning and testing
Providing technical leadership for infrastructure and cloud-related projects
Coordinating technical activities with internal staff, vendors, and service providers
Providing second-level escalation support for complex technical issues
Monitoring system performance, conducting audits, and preparing technical reports
Researching emerging technologies and contributing to budgeting and acquisition activities
Ensuring all changes comply with approved change management procedures
Implementing patch management for IT infrastructure to ensure security and

Completion of a post secondary diploma/degree in a related IT field
Experience in an IT technical administration role
Experience in infrastructure related technologies, including Physical and Virtual Servers, (Asset)
Experience in Network and Security related technologies (Asset)
Experience in Server and Database technologies (Asset)
Experience managing enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, VMs, virtual networks, etc. (Asset)
Familiarity with Datacenter/Server Room security features, including UPSs, HVAC, environmental alarms and access restrictions (Asset)
Assessment Criteria
Knowledge of IT administration of servers, data management and migration, user account management, email systems, web servers, internet access, routers, switches, office systems, and application support in a LAN/WAN environment
Knowledge of backup, restore, disaster recovery planning and techniques
Knowledge of Active Directory/Global Catalogue
