Within the Technology & Innovation department, the System Engineer (2-year term) is a member of the Business Solutions division and reports to the Senior Manager, Business Solutions. The Business Solutions team provides leadership and management of business technologies that support continuous improvement and innovation across the organization.
Responsibilities
The System Engineer will be responsible for supporting and developing data integrations across enterprise systems, establishing system integration best practices, and contributing to the development of a data-driven culture at the Halifax International Airport Authority. The role requires close collaboration with members of the Technology & Innovation department, business units, and external partners to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of how data is processed, accessed, and utilized.
Qualifications
We are growing our Data Analytics team, with a strong focus on collaboration, transparency, and a shared passion for using data to make informed decisions. The following experiences and attributes are those we believe will contribute to success in the System Engineer role:
- Functional programming language (i.e. R, Python, Scala, etc.)
- Using SQL to extract data from databases
- Extracting data from data sources (i.e. databases, API, XML, and enterprise applications)
- Familiarity with data movement practices (i.e. ETL, ELT, batch, streaming, etc.)
- Usage of code repositories for managing code (i.e. Git, GitLab, GitHub, etc.)
- Experience working with data in production (i.e. logging, monitoring, auditing, etc.)
- Familiarity with continuous deployment and integration (i.e. GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Docker, Cloud Build, etc.)
