Department: Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries (DAAF) - Business Growth Branch
Placement Description:
The Project Executive Assistant will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects that align with the business growth branch. This branch supports three core sectors: agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries. Most notably, the intern would be able to work alongside and be mentored by the project executive that is responsible Youth Engagement projects, Client Information Systems and Emergency Response projects. This role offers an opportunity for skills development with career-focused trainings, self-development workshops, and personalized mentorship. The intern will be able to contribute to projects that align with their strengths and centres of interest, including and beyond those listed below.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Youth Engagement Resource Development: Develop portable resources that educate youth audience about the work of the department and its' sectors (for example: short lesson, booklet of samples, activities) to be used by staff throughout the province. This will involve creativity using available resources and proposing concepts, as well as design.
Client Information and Emergency Response projects: DAAF maintains client information databases for engagement and other purposes, including emergency response. The intern can contribute to the priority projects, such as updating relevant databases. The intern may provide recommendations on process improvement in future data entry.
Need to have:

  • Post-secondary student enrolled in Business, Project Management, Administration, or a related field
  • Communication Skills - Write and speak professionally. Interpersonal Skills - Ability to build and maintain relationships, and work collaboratively.
  • Interest in food production sectors and business development
  • Language requirement: English essential, French is an asset
