Department: Department of Social Development - Contracts & Procurement
Placement Description:
The Junior Procurement Analyst Student will support the Contracts & Procurement section within the Department of Social Development. This team plays a key role in the procurement and delivery of social services across the province.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Supporting Request for Proposal (RFP) projects from development to evaluation and award
- Assisting with financial funding models and cost analysis
- Contributing to contract development and procurement documentation
- Liaising with regional offices and program areas to understand service delivery needs
- Participating in evaluations and project reviews
- Supporting compliance with legislative and procurement requirements
This placement offers hands-on experience in public sector procurement, financial modeling, and service delivery within a social services environment. Students will gain exposure to program development, contract management, financial analysis, and cross-departmental collaboration while receiving mentorship and coaching from experienced procurement professionals. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills and gain hands-on experience.
Need to have:
- Language requirement: English or Bilingual (French and English)
- Currently enrolled in a postsecondary program in Business, Finance, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience with financial modeling or advanced Excel
- Interest in public procurement, policy, or program evaluation
- Presentation skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects
