REFRIGERATION APPRENTICE (BAND 6)

(one-year contractual position)

DUTIES Under general supervision, the successful applicant will be required to perform apprentice-level tasks in accordance with standard trade practices. Duties include: supporting the maintenance and repair of refrigeration equipment such as refrigerators, ultra-low freezers, refrigerated centrifuges, and chillers used for experimental, instructional and research purposes. The successful candidate may also support the cryogenics shop, including dispensing of cryogenic liquids, as well as other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Successful candidates must have completed pre-apprenticeship (entry-level) training at a recognized institution towards journey-person certification in the respective trade. Candidates currently enrolled in the pre-apprenticeship training will also be considered. Applicants must be eligible to enter in the apprenticeship program under the Department of Education (Industrial Training Section). Possession of a valid driver's license and driver's abstract, as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, is required.
SALARY $36,054.60 - $60,531.30 per annum (CUPE 1615)
based on year of apprenticeship program
