Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are hiring a Co-op Data Analytics & Reporting!

What you'll do:

We'll treat you as one of our own and your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Develop, test, and perform quality assurance on Power BI reports, ensuring accuracy and usability for end users
  • Publish and maintain interactive and paginated reports in Power BI
  • Automate repetitive tasks and data processes using scripting languages such as Python or VBA
  • Monitor report subscriptions for failures, investigate root causes, and implement solutions
  • Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL jobs and processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable reporting solutions
  • Support data quality initiatives, including validating data integrity and implementing checks for ETL processes

By the end of the work-term, you will:

  • Gain hands-on experience building, testing, and publishing reports to support commercial activities
  • Develop a strong understanding of the full report development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment for end users
  • Implement and document data quality checks for ETL processes, ensuring data integrity and reliability
  • Learn how Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems, along with other technology assets, are used in the energy industry
  • Strengthen skills in Microsoft data tools, Power BI, scripting, and report automation

Who you are:

Working as a valued part of our team at Emera Energy, you will bring experience in the following areas:

  • MS SQL – Proficiency with basic queries including SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, and other table expressions; familiarity with Microsoft tools
  • DAX – Experience with SUMX, CALCULATE, FILTER, and other common expressions
  • Power BI and Paginated Reports – Ability to create, design, and maintain interactive and static reports
  • Report Design – Strong attention to layout, color, and consistent formatting for clear visualization
  • Programming languages– Exposure to Python or similar scripting languages for automation
  • MS Excel and VBA – Advanced skills for data analysis and report automation
  • Experience with Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database) is an asset
