SummaryBell Media is hiring a Senior Backend Developer to help build and scale the backend systems powering Crave, Canada's #1 streaming platform. In this role, you'll design, develop, and optimize backend services using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Java, and modern microservices. You'll collaborate with DevOps to enhance CI/CD pipelines, improve performance for millions of users, and contribute to key architectural decisions.
  • Work on high-impact projects powering Canada's top streaming service.
  • Use cutting-edge cloud technologies like AWS serverless and microservices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain backend services using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and Java applications.
  • Partner with DevOps engineers to create rock-solid CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployments.
  • Optimize performance and scalability for millions of concurrent users.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and help shape the future of Crave's platform.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with speed and precision.
Critical Qualifications
  • 5+ years in backend development, ideally in large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong Java expertise and hands-on AWS experience.
  • Knowledge of microservices and RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
  • Strong Python, Node.js/JavaScript, and Terraform expertise
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in video streaming or media platforms.

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
