The Global Operations Technology (GOT) team develops and manages innovative products designed to support the ever-changing threat landscape. We work in close partnership with our Corporate Security, Fraud Business, and key Technology Partners throughout Scotiabank to drive technology on a global basis. We are key team members within Enterprise Technology to ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled technology leader to deliver value for key fraud and insider threat solutions. This role will support both ongoing and new projects that serve our global stakeholders—including Internal Fraud, Corporate Security, AML, and Risk—by ensuring specific goals, plans, and initiatives align with the team's business strategies and objectives through effective technology solutions. All activities must comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. In addition, the role will provide support for day-to-day operational activities, ensuring smooth execution of technology processes and addressing operational challenges as they arise.

The incumbent will work in partnership with the Technical Delivery/ Software Engineer Lead and Sr. Manager Development, to manage a team of technology professionals responsible for delivery and ensure deliverables are of the highest quality while adhering to defined release, change, and architectural standards and methodologies. The incumbent must have the ability to manage multiple technology initiatives concurrently. The incumbent should also have a strong technical delivery and technical support background. The individual must thrive on challenge, be proactive and dynamic, and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Develop and execute the technology roadmap that supports our strategic vision and objectives.
  • Evaluate, recommend new, tools, and methodologies to improve development processes and enhance product offerings where required.
  • Shape and monitor strategic priorities, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
  • Support the development of business plans, technology roadmaps, and performance metrics.
  • Manage technology requirements such as scope, schedule, cost, resources, issues, risks, integration, change management, etc.
  • Play an active part in developing, tracking and following up on KPI's and Key Risk Indicators for the group.
  • Manage the relationship with central KPI/KRI reporting functions and ensure that information is transmitted efficiently and accurately in real time.
  • Identify areas of technical debt and create strategies to prioritize and eliminate it.
  • Ensure cross-team coordination and resources allocation is aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Build and maintain solid, professional, working relationships with the business lines and product owners to set priority and deliver business value.
  • Identify and track performance, health, and success metrics for core solutions. This includes identifying, capturing, and resolving impediments.
  • Collect metrics and sharing progress towards release objectives with Technical Delivery/ Software Engineer Lead, Director Development and business partners to ensure alignment in scope, time and budget.
  • Actively identify areas of continuous improvement and conceptualize methods on how to be more efficient.
  • Working closely with the Technical Delivery/ Software Engineer Lead and Scrum Master to drive an Agile culture and mindset throughout the organization.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Monitor budget forecasts, manage vendor contracts, and validate invoices for vendors.
  • Manage communication with all areas of the enterprise that impact scope, schedule, budget, risk & resources.
  • Participate in vendor product assessment and selection where required.
  • The incumbent is expected to function independently to ensure that the assigned tasks and technology objectives are met.
  • Assist in other portfolios needs as required.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post graduate degree in computer science, business, math or engineering related discipline preferred, along with 10 years plus in financial services and technology with exposure to both strategy and operations.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel.
  • Strong leadership & strategic thinking and influencing skills required.
    Strong technical expertise in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps, etc.).
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, leadership and influential capabilities and the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners and external vendors.
  • Proven track record delivering innovative solutions from concept to change management.
  • Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure.
  • Must be reliable, pro-active, results-oriented, customer-focused, and attentive to details.
  • Knowledge in Splunk system.
  • Previous experience in Corporate Security, Insider Threat Fraud
  • FI/Banking experience (North American Bank)
  • Understanding Technology regulations, compliance obligations, and governance frameworks is nice to have.
