The purpose of the Senior Manager, Unsecured Policy & Analytics is to contribute to the risk management and profitability of the Retail Bank by ensuring all new unsecured credit (this includes Credit Cards, Lines of Credit, Direct Term Loans, and Overdraft Protection) are aligned with the Risk Appetite Framework, optimizing risk/return over the long term. This will be achieved by driving continuous improvement in policy and strategy effectiveness, assessing trends and potential risk exposure via effective and prompt analysis of data, delinquency and performance reports, and economic factors to justify changes.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • The Senior Manager, Unsecured Policy & Analytics plays a pivotal role in strengthening policy, governance, analytics, and risk management for the Bank's Retail Unsecured lending portfolio which encompasses a broad suite of products across a diverse range of customer segments, channels, and programs.
  • The Senior Manager will perform continual reviews and analysis of existing policies and procedures in order to identify opportunities for improved risk management while supporting responsible growth for retail unsecured lending products across the product and customer lifecycle, diverse delivery channels, and risk technology tools.
  • The Senior Manager will work closely with various business line partners to ensure strategies, policies and Programs, are within Risk Appetite by identifying opportunities, recommending changes and resolving any issues or gaps.
  • They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining various risk dashboards and reports that will be used to monitor for emerging risks, control breakdowns and proactively identify and escalate any other potential issues and gaps.
  • The Senior Manager position requires technical expertise including experience with data, risk technologies, origination, account management and scoring to enable the automation of strategies, policies and business rules, as well as a deep understanding of the Canadian unsecured lending market, economic conditions and credit bureau information.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of unsecured credit policies and strategies across the customer lifecycle, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and long term profitability.
  • Develop and maintain various data-driven risk dashboards and reports that will be used to monitor for emerging risks, opportunities and control breakdowns.
  • Proactively identify, escalate and resolve any gaps and issues.
  • Serve as a trusted risk partner to business lines, providing guidance on strategic initiatives, new products, systems, and process changes.
  • Support regulatory, audit, and fraud related reviews, including timely resolution of OSFI, Internal Audit, and PAE findings.
  • Leverage economic, market, and competitive insights to inform policy decisions and prepare for credit headwinds.
  • Oversee quality assurance and independent testing of policies, strategies, and controls; ensure issues are identified, escalated, and remediated.
  • Provide day to day leadership and subject matter expertise to internal stakeholders on unsecured lending policy and risk matters.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

• University degree in economics, finance, business, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.

• 7+ years of experience in credit risk analytics, policy, governance, compliance, audit, or portfolio management within financial services.

• 3+ years with an organization in the risk/portfolio management field, with a proven track record of success in leading and implementing change in the financial services sector.

• Demonstrated expertise in data, analytics, and reporting, including advanced use of SQL, SAS, Python, PowerBI, and Microsoft tools to support decision making and executive reporting.

• Strong understanding of unsecured retail credit risk, including origination, account management, credit scoring, portfolio monitoring, and automated decision systems.

• Proven ability to lead and deliver complex, multi stream initiatives with material risk and business impact.

• Experience supporting regulatory and audit engagements, including issue identification, escalation, and remediation.

• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical insights into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.

• Strategic, curious, and self directed leader with sound judgment, strong problem solving skills, and a results oriented mindset.

• Strong project management and leadership skills to prioritize manage and implement a variety of competing initiatives, on a concurrent or staggered basis.
