Department Overview:

The Finance team supports Canadian Personal Banking group of businesses including both Branch Banking, Product and COO. The team supports development and achievement of Personal Banking financial and strategic objectives by providing reporting and forecasting capabilities, analysis, interpretation, and advice to business leaders on both financial and business matters.

We are looking for a highly motivated, inquisitive professional who has a track record of insightful analytics and thought leadership.

CUSTOMER

  • Conduct regular, ongoing analysis, evaluation and review of business performance and initiatives against established reference points (e.g., plan, prior year, business cases) as directed
  • Provide advice and guidance to Finance Management and/or business partners and appropriate stakeholders on a range of finance accounting / reporting or operational processes
  • Apply understanding of respective business strategies to produce relevant and meaningful data analysis and materials to support the creation and maturation of business goals and objectives
  • Develop analysis and proper dashboards to illustrate business trends and identify areas of business opportunities
  • Coordinate and/or consolidate financial information needs / requests among various parties (e.g. business Finance Teams, other stakeholders, external parties / regulators / auditors and/or centralized Finance
  • Act as a key resource to the business or functional unit by providing relevant and meaningful financial information / data / guidance on specialized procedures and/or issues (e.g. tax, accounting principles, reconciliation / reporting / financial controls / finance processes etc.)
  • Identify variances and contribute to the analysis, due diligence and execution and/or implementation of potential initiatives, acquisitions and/or business re-structures within defined area of responsibility
  • Contribute and work with FinOps or Specialized Finance teams to provide input and feedback on enhancing operational activities (e.g. report production, system queries, process mapping, specialized tracking, analysis and transactional procedural support) where appropriate

SHAREHOLDER

  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area
  • Ensure respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities
  • Identify and investigate data/analytics related issues
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate
  • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
  • Participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives helping to identify risk
  • Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience
  • Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices
  • Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exist
  • Support the execution of remediation plans to address performance / risk /governance issues
  • Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a culture of risk based management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

  • SME business partner knowledge / professional role requiring in-depth knowledge / expertise in own domain / field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas
  • Research and investigates a range of financial accounting / audit operational and/or reporting issues
  • Requires specialized and/or advanced technical / finance knowledge for own area
  • May need to coordinate / integrate work with other areas as needed
  • Nature and complexity of work support generally medium to longer term focus
  • Performs advanced analysis or specialized work that requires good understanding of financial accounting or related operational policies and procedures
  • Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area
  • Applies best practices to implement process, product or service improvements
  • Contributes to setting standards within area of expertise
  • Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders
  • Impacts a range of functional programs and operations across own and related teams
  • Interpret guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels
  • Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Accounting designation preferred
