Purpose


The Team Lead – API Development is responsible for leading a team of developers to deliver high-quality API solutions. This role ensures operational excellence through effective release management, production support, and intake processes while maintaining technical leadership and stakeholder communication.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead and mentor the API development team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
  • Manage release planning and execution, ensuring timely and successful deployments.
  • Oversee production support processes, including incident triage, resolution, and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate intake of requests, prioritize work, and assign tasks within the team.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders regarding delivery timelines, issue escalations, and progress updates.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
  • Collaborate with architects and product owners to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Monitor team performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in API development and integration using the team's tech stack.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing releases, production support, and team operations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • 7 or more years of NodeJS and microservices development (conceptualization, design, and development) experience, including experience with deploying them in cloud (native or hybrid) environments.
  • Strong knowledge of how to design & define REST API using OpenAPI specification
  • Experience with at least one NodeJS framework, preferably ExpressJS, and JavaScript toolsets (ES6+, Yarn, Lerna, Linters & Loggers)
  • Strong written technical documentation skills, including clearly articulating current and proposed architecture and codifying conventions and best practices
  • Bonus points for knowledge of and experience with Mobile and web apps
  • Knowledge of what is required to create robust, highly available & highly scalable applications serving million plus customers and able to setup CI/CD, Jenkins pipelines
  • 2+ years of Experience with tools such as: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Splunk, Dynatrace
  • Comfortable working on a large-scale product as part of a large and complex enterprise, with both new technologies and building on top of legacy systems
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies -Docker & Kubernetes along with Google cloud platform (GCP) is a plus
