Job Summary

NL Health Services, Urban Zone has an immediate opening for a Permanent Full-time Thoracic Surgeon to join the Thoracic Surgery and Respiratory Division in St. John?s, NL.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for a clinical workload consisting of the surgical care of inpatients, including but not limited to consultations, surgery, follow-up visits, as well as outpatient care in an ambulatory clinic setting. The on-call commitment will be shared with the other physicians in the Division of Thoracic Surgery and Respiratory Division.

This position will be located in St. John?s, Newfoundland and Labrador with the selected candidate joining an established group in an academic setting. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the call schedule. Remuneration is based on an alternate payment plan (APP).

Required Qualifications

  • To be considered candidates must hold a Medical Degree
  • Certification by the Royal College Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in General Surgery or Cardiac (or equivalent) and subspecialty in Thoracic surgery
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NL.
  • Satisfy credentialing requirements of Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
