The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Water Management Co-Op Student to join our Water Management team in Sudbury.
This is a 12 month-fixed term co-op position starting in May/2026. This posting is for an existing position vacancy.
As a Water Management Co-Op Student, you will contribute to various aspects of mine water management, including groundwater, surface water, and water quality management, mine dewatering, and mine water supply, as well as mine water and water treatment infrastructure. The position is located in Sudbury, Ontario; however, the Water Management team provides support to Vale Base Metals' global operations. This role offers a combination of both fieldwork and office-based responsibilities.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Manage, analyze, and interpret hydrological, hydrogeological and geochemical datasets to support project needs.
- Provide support for water balance assessments and related technical analyses.
- Assist in the preparation and review of regulatory and environmental documentation.
- Draft technical memoranda, scopes of work, and procurement-related documents in support of project execution.

About You
Education:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Hydrogeology, Geology, or Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Geological, or Mining).
Skills:
- Interested and capable in both field-based and analytical water management work
- Comfortable with data systems, monitoring networks, and operational water challenges
- A strong communicator who can contribute to both regulatory and operational requirements
- Demonstrates adaptability and problem-solving skills in dynamic situations
- Holds a valid Class G driver's license
