Position Overview

Do you thrive on collaboration, solving problems, and facilitating conversations to make real change in healthcare? The Physician Engagement Liaison will implement an engagement strategy designed to meet our family physician members where they are at, supported by a concierge-style approach that provides responsive, personalized service to address common practice and patient needs in rural eastern Newfoundland. This rewarding role will balance hands-on event coordination, project management, and stakeholder engagement, while being deeply embedded in physician-led work.

Position Details

  • Position Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Location: Home-based (Eastern Newfoundland preferred); home office allowance provided
  • Travel: Periodic travel within rural eastern Newfoundland with annual provincial travel
  • Work Schedule: Regular hours are 9-5 with flexibility required to work some evenings and weekends
  • Reports To: Executive Director, RE-Boot FPN

Key Responsibilities

Member Engagement & Relationships

  • Engage with members to seek input, identify needs, and close the loop on feedback and action items
  • Tailor outreach approach for physician clinic visits to strengthen relationships and support practice needs
  • Build trust with members and their staff through a strong understanding of the healthcare system and clinical realities

Partnerships & Community

  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to support shared objectives
  • Develop community partnerships and organize events aligned to local priorities
  • Coordinate and provide support on strategic priorities of the FPN, Collaborative Services Committee (CSC), and working groups

Events & Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  • Coordinate member events to facilitate networking opportunities and foster support
  • Plan CPD events, including applications, speaker management, logistics, and on-the-day execution
  • Facilitate evaluation and reporting for events, including participant feedback and outcome summaries

Communications & Member Data

  • Produce the weekly membership newsletter and other timely member communications
  • Manage and maintain the member database
  • Develop communication materials and collaborate with partners/colleagues/members as needed

Project Coordination & Administration

  • Assist and/or lead project management
  • Track priorities and action items; maintain records of decisions, actions, and risks
  • Prepare agendas, briefing notes, and minutes; attend board and committee meetings as required
  • Provide support to physician-led working groups, related research, and fulfillment of work plans
  • Prepare concise progress updates and reports as requested
  • Provide change management support to family physician practices
  • Provide continuity for planned and unplanned staff leave

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Project Management, Quality Improvement, and/or Change Management experience is an asset

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Comfortable working independently in a home office while remaining highly connected, responsive and available for face-to-face meetings as required
  • Ability to travel periodically within rural eastern Newfoundland and annually within the province
  • Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends as required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary range $70,176-$75,000, plus contribution toward a retirement vehicle
  • Home-office stipend to offset remote work costs
  • Annual leave 25 days, 12 statutory holidays, paid sick and personal leave days
  • Health, dental, life and accidental death& dismemberment insurance
  • Mileage reimbursed for approved travel

Organizational Context

The NLMA and the Department of Health and Community Services established the Family Practice Renewal Program (FPRP) to improve the effectiveness of family practice across the province as part of an integrated primary health care system. As a core initiative of the FPRP, the Family Practice Networks (FPNs) have been created including Endeavor (St. John's and area), Shalloway (Central Region), Long Range (Western Region), Borealis (Labrador Grenfell) and RE-Boot (Rural Eastern). FPNs are non-profit corporations led by physician Board of Directors and are designed to improve patient care, enable collaboration with NL Health Services on community health goals through the CSC, and enhance professional satisfaction for physicians.
