Service New Brunswick (SNB) is seeking individuals to join the Technology Services Division as Deskside Support Technicians in the Saint John, Fredericton, and Moncton regions. New Brunswick is modernizing its Clinical Information Solution (CIS), a province?wide digital health transformation initiative designed to replace multiple existing systems and paper charts in hospitals with one connected electronic health information system for the entire province. What will you be doing?

As a member of the Client Services team, you will ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. The primary function of these particular roles will be the set up and distribution of replacement devices for Healthcare clients. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Determining urgency, prioritizing and scheduling problems/tasks, or escalating where necessary
  • Recording, tracking, and documenting the problem?solving process, including all decisions made and actions taken through to final resolution
  • Performing hands?on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications
  • Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning workstations, printers, and peripherals
  • Testing fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved

What do you need to be successful?

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a two?year community college program in computer technology or a related discipline
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience providing technical support in an IT environment

Some positions will require written and spoken competence in English; some will require written and spoken competence in English and French. Please state your language capability on your application and ensure that your preferred language for assessment is clearly identified.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate training or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework
  • Experience with basic computer hardware
  • Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Extensive application support experience
  • Experience with diagnostic utilities
  • Experience in a health?care environment

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Some weekday evenings and weekend work hours may be required
  • Frequent travel within the region; candidates must possess a valid New Brunswick Class 5 driver's license and have their own means of transportation
  • Candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment
  • Candidates must be able to lift/move equipment weighing 20–50 lbs and be physically capable of completing technical work at client desks, including work under desks
