The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Health, Safety, and Risk Superintendent to join our HSER team in Long Harbour, NL.
This permanent position will be on a Monday to Friday schedule working at the Long Harbour Operations site in Long Harbour, NL.
As a HSR Superintendent you will provide leadership, technical support and training of staff to implementation of the company's safety management system. In Long Harbour this necessarily includes elements of hydrometallurgical process safety. Your experience and skills will allow you to lead the team in hazard identification processes and implementing an ISO certified safety management system that aligns with internal policies and adheres to the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupation Health & Safety Act, Regulations, and Codes. We exist to transform the future together. The HSR Supt is uniquely positioned to be a transformative leader, guiding our operations toward a strong safety culture.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Provide leadership and direction in safety, health and emergency response.
- Audit and analyze trends in safety, occupational health, hygiene and risk.
- Lead by example, coach and influence peers to achieve a strong safety culture.
- Act as subject matter expert on process safety risk and oversee program to ensure controls are in place and working at all times. This role would often act as auditor to the risk program, solve problems and look for opportunities to improve programs.
- Work with the company's joint occupational health and safety committees to improve safety and occupational health performance.
- Ensure the execution of the emergency response plan, including maintaining team, equipment and training standards.

About You
Education:
- An Undergraduate Degree in a related field required
- Occupational Health and Safety Certification preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a superintendent or similar leadership position is required
- 15 years exp in OHS and 5 years in Process Operations preferred
Skills:
- Extensive experience with Health & Safety Management systems
- Expert knowledge of OHS regulations and industry standards
