The Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI) is dedicated to supporting Indigenous peoples in reaching their full economic development potential through advocacy and networking. The Curriculum and Education Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating, and supporting high-quality, culturally grounded educational programming for JEDI's Mobile Makerspace. This role ensures the curriculum is engaging, accessible, and aligned with youth-focused, community-based learning goals while supporting facilitators with the tools, training, and documentation they need to deliver programming confidently and safely.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development & Coordination
    • Design, adapt, and maintain curriculum for Mobile Makerspace programming (e.g. digital fabrication, STEAM, IT, and creative technology).
    • Ensure curriculum aligns with program objectives, age groups, and community needs.
    • Integrate Indigenous perspectives, land-based learning, and culturally relevant approaches where appropriate.
    • Work with internal and external partners to co-develop and refine learning activities.
  • Facilitator and Instructor Support
    • Develop facilitator guides, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
    • Coordinate training and onboarding for facilitators and instructors.
    • Ensure facilitators have clear documentation for equipment use, learning outcomes, and safety considerations.
    • Provide ongoing educational support and troubleshooting during program delivery.
  • Program Alignment and Quality Assurance
    • Collaborate with Technical & Equipment Coordinator to ensure curriculum aligns with available tools, equipment, and safety guidelines.
    • Ensure consistency across programming delivered in different communities and settings.
    • Support evaluation of programs and incorporate feedback into curriculum improvements.
  • Documentation and Resource Management
    • Maintain up-to-date curriculum documentation, learning objectives, and materials lists.
    • Support the development of curriculum components for an LMS or shared digital repository.
    • Track curriculum updates and versioning to ensure facilitators use current materials.

Qualifications Required

  • University degree in a related field such as Education and/or Instructional Design, or other applicable field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience in curriculum development, education coordination, or instructional design.
  • Background in STEAM education, makerspaces, digital fabrication, or technology-based learning.
  • Experience working with youth, community programs, or Indigenous organizations is a strong asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible, engaging learning activities.
  • Comfortable working in flexible, mobile, and community-based environments.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
  • Satisfactory criminal background/vulnerable sector clearance and maintenance are required.

Assets

  • Teaching or facilitation experience in makerspaces, labs, or informal learning environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as 3D printers, laser engravers, electronics, or basic IT concepts.
  • Experience supporting or developing curriculum for mobile or outreach-based programs.

Salary range: $53,772 - $65,722 per annum
