The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Digital Communications Co-Op Student to join our Corporate Communications team in Toronto. This is an on-site/hybrid position, working a Monday – Friday schedule. This is an 8 or 12 month-fixed term co-op position starting in May 2026. As a Digital Communications Co-Op Student, you will support Vale Base Metals' corporate communications strategy by contributing to the planning, creation and execution of digital content across key channels. Working closely with the Corporate Communications team, the Co?op will contribute to strengthening VBM's digital presence, supporting event execution, and aid in other external communication efforts in alignment with VBM's brand and governance frameworks. Additionally, in this position you will:
  • Assist in creating, scheduling, and publishing content across corporate social media platforms in alignment with VBM's social media strategy, goals, and governance framework.
  • Support planning and coordination for major corporate events, conferences, stakeholder engagements, and external forums.
  • Assist in planning and updating website content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the corporate brand and communications strategy.
  • Provide general external communications support and planning as required.

About You Education:
  • Currently enrolled in a College or University program Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or related post-secondary program.
Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time?management skills, with the ability to manage shifting priorities effectively.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal); Portuguese language skills are an asset.
  • Strong writing and editing abilities with excellent attention to detail; familiarity with the Canadian Press Style Guide is an asset.
  • Creative storytelling skills across multimedia formats—including visual content, infographics, audio, and digital assets.
  • Familiarity with tools and platforms such as:Social media channels (e.g., LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram)
  • WordPress or other content management platforms
  • Google Analytics or similar analytics tools
  • Multimedia design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, PDF editors, PowerPoint)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Graphic and video editing software (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere, or comparable programs)
  • Artificial intelligence tools (e.g., Copilot)
