Definition of work:
The Laboratory Technologist works primarily in the general laboratory of James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, performing all duties related to Hematology, Microbiology, Histology, Blood Transfusion, Chemistry, and Phlebotomy sections. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements. The successful candidate may be required to rotate in different sections of the laboratory with shift duties or rotate on weekends and statutory holidays as required.

Required qualifications:
? Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfound-land and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
? Successful completion of an approved 3-year program in General Laboratory Technology with a General MLT Certificate from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
? Current and continued licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP).
? Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
? Keen attention to detail in completion of all tasks.
? Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
? A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
