Job Summary
The Registered Nurse IC in Diagnostic Imaging provides specialized interventional radiology procedures for acute, chronic and critically ill patients of all age groups (neonatal, pediatric and adults). Work includes completing advanced assessment and monitoring of patients pre, during, and post procedures as necessary (i.e. review patient history, vital signs, blood work, chart, medication); assisting physicians with guiding instruments such as sheaths, catheters and wires through blood vessels or the skin in procedures in Angiography, Ultrasound, CT (i.e. circulating and scrub nurse); performing IV insertion, urinary catheter insertion; administering conscious sedation; monitoring neuro visual/neuro signs; performing sterile scrub techniques and thrombolytics; and draping patients. The position also provides professional supervision and direction to the nursing care team while supporting other members of the interprofessional team to achieve safe and effective care to patients.

Job Demands

Regularly moves/lifts equipment/machinery/supplies over 50 lbs. and regularly required to restrain/reposition/move/ lift over 50 lbs.
Constantly required to wear a lead apron, thyroid collar, and other protective equipment weighing over 25 lbs. for extended periods of time due to radiation exposure.
Constantly stands/walks and works in awkward or cramped positions to assist with Diagnostic Imaging procedures while providing patient care.
Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, to complete documents, follow directions, administer medications, etc.
Repetition of work requires alertness when performing risk assessments, administering medications and treatments. A higher level of alertness is required when observing patients who may be at risk for their safety or are aggressive, and for responding to codes.
May be subject to time pressures and deadlines and may lack control over work pace.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
A current practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
Current BLS for Health Care Providers Certification is required.
Minimum of two years of experience within the last four in Cardiac Critical Care, Cath Lab, Diagnostic Imaging, and/or Operating Room is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
