Benefits:
Mental Health Clinician (Adults, Couples/Families)
Location: North Sydney / Sydney, Nova Scotia
East Coast Psychotherapy & Trauma Clinic Inc. is an established, respected group practice committed to trauma-informed, evidence-based care. For over a decade, we have supported clients in healing and growth-and we extend that same commitment to our clinicians through a collegial culture, strong systems, and meaningful opportunities for professional development.
We are a well-structured, clinician-supportive practice, with administrative and intake systems managed by the clinic - so you can focus on providing quality mental health care. Our intake team ensures clients are thoughtfully matched to your clinical strengths.
We are currently seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join our team. While we have a strong preference for advanced-practice clinicians, we also welcome applications from early-career clinicians who are committed to developing advanced competency in trauma-focused work and who are actively engaged in ongoing training and consultation.
Position Overview
This is a long-term, contract-based position offering the independence of private practice with the benefits of a supportive, collaborative clinical team. Clinicians in this role provide clinical assessment and psychotherapy for a broad range of adult mental health concerns. In addition, candidates must be competent in trauma-resolution approaches and able to work effectively with more complex trauma presentations.
We have a strong preference for advanced-practice clinicians; however, we also welcome applications from early-career clinicians who are already working with trauma-related presentations and who demonstrate a clear commitment to developing advanced competency through ongoing training and consultation.
The majority of client work takes place in-person. While limited remote work is available, current client demand is primarily for in-person sessions. Team collaboration and meetings are conducted remotely, supporting both flexibility and meaningful connection.
We are looking for confident, adaptable clinicians who value autonomy, are self-directed in practice, and are interested in growing alongside an expanding clinic while contributing positively to a collaborative, team-based environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of a Master's degree
- Holds a Nova Scotia License in one of the following: Social Work-Clinical Specialist; Registered Counselling Therapist
- Professional liability insurance
- Experience providing psychotherapy to adults, and/or couples and families, using evidence-based approaches
- Foundational competence in assessing and treating trauma-related presentations, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing training in trauma-focused care
- Self-directed in practice and collaborative by nature
Responsibilities
Depending on your background and areas of interest, responsibilities may include:
- Providing evidence-based outpatient psychotherapy to adults presenting with a range of mental health concerns
- Providing outpatient psychotherapy to couples or adult families experiencing high conflict, using evidence-based approaches
- Providing clinical assessment and treatment planning within a trauma-informed framework
What We Offer
- A long-term contract-based position, offering the independence of private practice with the benefits of a supportive team
- A positive and collegial team culture where clinicians are respected, supported and valued
- Clinical autonomy, with access to the Clinical Director and colleagues for consultation as needed
- A comprehensive intake system that ensures appropriate client matching and reduces administrative burden
- Flexible, supportive scheduling, with the opportunity to design a schedule that suits your needs while meeting consistent client demand during evenings and some weekends
- A Continuing Education Support Program, which includes an annual learning budget, financing options, and discounted registration fees with trauma-focused training programs
- Mentor pairings during orientation to support a smooth and confident transition into the practice
- A clinic culture that actively supports ongoing professional development within a forward-looking, growing practice
