Job Title: Dietary Aid e
Location: Kingston, ON
Shift/Hours: 4 -8 hour shifts only between hours of 6:00am-7:00pm- weekend availability required
Pay Rate : $ 2 4.30 / hr

The Dietary Aide supports daily food service operations within a long-term care setting by assisting with meal preparation, meal delivery, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. This role contributes to ensuring residents receive meals safely and respectfully .

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, portioning, and delivery of meals and nourishments
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Support cooks with receiving and putting away food and supply orders
  • Follow food safety, infection control, and health and safety guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and care teams to support resident needs
  • Carry out duties using a resident-centered approach to care

Education, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma preferred
  • Safe Food Handler Certificate considered an asset
  • Completion of, or enrollment in, a Ministry-approved Food Service Worker Certificate Program
  • Previous experience in dietary services, healthcare, long-term care, or institutional food service is an asset
  • Understanding of, or willingness to work within, the Gentle Care philosophy
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents, coworkers, and the public
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Dependable, team-oriented work style with strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills, including email and workplace software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check

Physical and Working Conditions

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Repetitive bending, lifting, and reaching
  • Exposure to kitchen-related conditions such as heat, noise, and cleaning agents
  • Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, and nights
