What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Manager Compensation Advisory, supporting the Personal Banking platform, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and communication of compensation solutions (salary, commission, direct drive, short term incentive and equity programs) that support and align with RBC's compensation principles and business strategies and objectives. This position is responsible for providing executives and senior management with expert advice on all aspects of compensation programs, policies, initiatives and integrated HR solutions, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the financial and human capital impact of their HR compensation decisions. This role allows you to showcase your expertise, drive performance, drive employee engagement and partner with key business areas to make an impact.

The Senior Manager is accountable to the Senior Director, Personal Banking Compensation Advisory, for successful achievement of the agreed upon goals and objectives, driving a high level of performance, employee engagement, and a superior client experience.

What will you do?

  • Design and implement compensation structures that align with RBC's business goals, regulatory requirements (e.g., CIRO), and compensation principles.
  • Ensure consistency in compensation decisions through structured design/analysis (calibration) sessions, balancing quantitative data (e.g., performance metrics) with qualitative insights
  • Advance compensation solutions: lead salary, incentive, direct drive and commission programs that incentivize desired behaviours (e.g. client-centric, risk awareness) while ensuring compliance.
  • Consult & integrate Programs: Consult with HR Business Partners and business leaders and functional partners (Employee Relations, Finance, Compliance, Risk, etc.) to tailor compensation solutions to business initiatives and individual employee needs; apply root cause analysis to resolve complex compensation issues (e.g., pay disparities, retention challenges).
  • Conduct data-driven calibration of compensation plans to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Manage cost-effective collection, modeling, and analysis of compensation data (e.g., benchmarking, trend analysis) to provide actionable insights.
  • Build strong relationships with HR and business leaders to influence decision-making and align compensation with strategic priorities; demonstrate the ability to impact and influence.
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness through continuous process improvement, automation and streamlining

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Finance, Economics, Business or a related field
  • 5 years+ experience in compensation design and governance ideally within the financial services industry
  • Experience in research and modeling, including the development of spreadsheets, databases and presentations; mathematical aptitude and analytical thinking
  • Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities (and experience)
  • Ability to present information clearly, effectively and succinctly in various presentation formats
  • Strong technical skills in the design and management of sophisticated compensation programs
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative team environment
