Job Summary
The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist I in the Medical Imaging Department performs a variety of diagnostic x-ray procedures outside the hospital setting. This role involves producing high-quality diagnostic images to assist physicians in medical diagnosis, positioning patients using standard anatomical techniques, and processing X-ray images efficiently.
The DI Technologist I will be required to transport a portable X-ray unit via a designated van from the Janeway to off-site patient care facilities. They will load, unload, and safely handle the portable X-ray equipment to ensure its functionality and patient safety. They will perform diagnostic X-ray imaging at off-site locations, ensuring patient comfort and adherence to safety protocols.
They will operate and maintain the portable X-ray unit and related equipment, identifying and reporting malfunctions, and performing routine preventative maintenance. They are required to service the vehicle, including refueling and basic upkeep (oil, water, air, etc.), and promptly report any mechanical issues or required repairs to the supervisor. This position requires a high level of independence, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills to provide quality care to patients in diverse environments.

Constantly lifts, moves objects, repositions, pushes and pulls objects and transports patients to and from testing area.
Repeatedly maneuvering a portable X-ray machine (approximately 45 lbs.) in and out of a fitted vehicle and into patient care areas multiple times per shift.
Operates van to deliver portable X-Ray to patient care areas and are therefore required to sit and drive on a regular basis. Walking is required when loading and unloading the carts onto the trucks.
Push/pull up to medium forces. Constantly stands and walks for extended periods.
Regularly requires repetitive movements of upper extremities.
A high level of alertness and attentiveness is required when performing x-rays when patients are critically ill, infectious, unstable or compromised in order to obtain accurate images as quickly as possible, and ensure the patient's safety.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program in Medical Radiation Technology is required.
Current registration and member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is required.
A valid Class 05 driver's license is required.
Demonstrated strong communication skills are required in the day-to-day interaction with patients, co-workers and technologists.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
