The Financial and Consumer Services Commission (Commission) is a leader in integrated financial and consumer services regulation. The Commission's mandate is to protect consumers and enhance public confidence in the financial and consumer marketplace through the provision of regulatory and educational services. With offices in both Fredericton and Saint John, it is responsible for the administration and enforcement of provincial legislation regulating mortgage brokers, payday lenders, real estate, securities, insurance, pensions, credit unions, trust and loan companies, cooperatives, unclaimed property, and a wide range of consumer legislation. The Commission is a self funded Crown corporation responsible for the administration and enforcement of financial consumer services legislation.

Articling Student - Legal Services Division (Saint John or Fredericton office)
Join our Legal Services division as an Articling Student and gain hands-on experience at the intersection of law, regulation, and public policy. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced legal professionals while contributing to meaningful, legal and regulatory initiatives.
As an Articling Student supporting the Legal Services division you will be exposed to a broad range of legal, regulatory, and corporate issues, will assist with access and privacy matters and will play an important role in helping the organization manage risk while advancing key business objectives.
You'll also assist the Regulatory Operations and Enforcement divisions, with tasks that may include research, policy development, compliance reviews, and investigations.
Your Focus
- Research, advise and provide support on access and privacy issues
- Research, advise and provide support on other legal issues in areas the Commission regulates
- Draft, review, and negotiate documents and agreements
- Support regulatory and operational functions across divisions
- Assist with compliance reviews, investigations, and enforcement activities
- Contribute to policy projects and prepare related documents
- Identify and escalate issues as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you bring
- Law degree and eligibility for enrolment as a student-at-law with the Law Society of New Brunswick from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027
- Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and produce accurate and organized work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills
