The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Engineer, Electrical to join our Reliability Engineering Team at Clarabelle Mill in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

As an Engineer Electrical, you will be responsible for delivering engineering services and technical advice, implementing and optimizing the asset efficiency of Crushing, Concentrator, Tailings and Water Plants equipment and facilities.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Be accountable for promoting and compliance with Vale's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Provides technical guidance for engineering design, analysis and recommendations for unplanned outages related to tripped electrical power, control and communication circuits or other upset conditions.
  • Develop the asset strategy, identifying asset criticality to the business, setting service strategy based on performance required, and driving reliability and cost-effective lifecycle management.
  • Reviews strategies for new assets as part of operational readiness. Identify critical spares and provide recommendations regarding stock levels.
  • Provide technical assistance in troubleshooting, repair of electrical equipment and risk assessment and perform electrical equipment failures investigation.
  • Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance on-site to electrical maintenance planning and execution team.

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) required.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the Electrical Engineering Field.
  • Familiar with latest codes, acts and regulations and keeps abreast of technology and latest developments in his/her design field.
  • Familiar with maintenance, programming, troubleshooting, failures investigation of the following systems and devices including: DCS systems (Foxboro, DeltaV), PLC systems (Allen Bradley Rockwell), video LAN systems (Indigo Vision), process LANs, gateways, HMI software (Factory Talk View SE), Rockwell intelligent MCCs (AB Bulletin 2100 with E300 and E3+ overloads), ABB VFDs (ACS600/800/880, 6000) and GE Multilin protection relays. Communications protocols include Modbus (Plus, TCP/IP), Ethernet/IP, and HART communications over serial and ethernet physical layers, radio frequency, Wi Fi and fiber optics.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls including soft starters & VFDs, transformers, motors, including maintenance and testing.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and instrumentation is highly desirable
