The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the Outpatient Department nursing team to provide
high standard of care to patients of the Outpatient Department. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for
maintaining professional and organizational standards of practice in accordance with the LGH MoNCP and reports to the
Regional Outpatient Department Manager.
Qualifications:
? Graduation from high school or equivalency;
? Graduation from an approved LPN education program;
? Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL);
? Breastfeeding course/education;
? Knowledge of computer skills and an ability to work with Meditech is an asset;
? Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check;
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
? Supports providers in the delivery of outpatient care;
? Supports primary care and specialist clinics as required;
? Provide multi-site coverage;
? Completes nursing assessment consistent with scope of practice;
? Participates in the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans;
? Provides safe, competent, and ethical nursing care and make decisions within the LPN scope of practice;
? Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient plan of care;
? Practices independently according to professional and organizational standards;
? Documents according to professional and organizational standards;
? Maintains competency and updates knowledge by availing of educational opportunities;
? Participates in quality assurance/improvement activities;
? Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team;
? Keeps current with changes by monitoring communications (i.e. verbal, e-mail, etc.);
? Administers medication;
? Other related duties as required.
