The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist is responsible for ensuring projects comply with environmental regulations while minimizing ecological impacts and supporting the achievement of project objectives. This role applies scientific analysis, regulatory expertise, and effective communication to assess potential environmental impacts and recommend mitigation strategies early in the project planning phase.
Key functions include:
- Lead the full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, including securing required regulatory approvals and permits (i.e., watercourse and wetland alteration permit, navigable waters permit, approval to construct, etc.)
- Facilitate stakeholder and rights holder engagement, consultation, and communication throughout project phases.
- Prepare regulatory documentation and implement mitigation strategies to reduce environmental impacts and drive continuous improvement.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental Science or Chemistry
- Eight years of related experience in environmental programs including experience developing and implementing effective environmental programs and procedures
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify project risks and deliver effective solutions.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
