The Office of the President at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Board Governance Secretary.

Responsibilities

The Board Governance Secretary provides administrative leadership to support the integrity, transparency, and efficiency of the University's governance processes. The incumbent supports the Board Chair and the Board of Governors, and supports the Executive Leadership Team on Board matters. The incumbent will also support compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPOP). The position demands exceptional organization, sound judgment, and discretion.

Acting as Secretary to the Board, the role serves as a key resource for the standing committees and any ad hoc committees, and manages all aspects of Board operations, including budgeting, meeting logistics, agenda preparation, and event coordination. Responsibilities also include organizing orientation sessions, and governance development activities, and the role oversees the Board's files and web presence, maintains confidential records, and updates governance manuals.

In addition, the position administers FOIPOP processes by researching, processing, and responding to applications in accordance with legislation, preparing reports and appeal materials, monitoring developments in other jurisdictions, and promoting proactive privacy practices within the institution. A high level of discretion, organizational skill, and knowledge of governance and privacy legislation are essential.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Public Relations or a related area accompanied by a minimum of five years' experience in a governance-focused role. We also welcome applicants who bring substantial relevant experience in place of the formal educational requirements.

As the successful candidate, you bring demonstrated experience in FOIPOP administration and/or records management. The successful candidate will excel as an independent contributor, showing strong project management capabilities, effective time management, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task while maintaining professional composure in a fast-paced environment. You handle confidential information with discretion and demonstrate superior writing and communication skills.

As a strategic thinker with proven project management experience, you approach your work with a focus on advancing the University's broader goals. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite is required, and an aptitude for, or previous experience with, business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc. is considered an asset.

Classification: Full-Time, Permanent MPA Level 5 Position
Salary: $69,647 per annum [Step Progression: $69,647 to $84,736]
