Job Title: Traffic Control (Flagger)
Location: Kingston, ON
Shift: Monday - Friday, early morning start - up to 12-hour days
Pay Rate: $21.00/hr
This role supports daily traffic control operations to keep workers, motorists, and pedestrians safe on active work sites. Responsibilities will include interpreting traffic management plans, performing basic traffic control set-ups, and maintaining a safety awareness.
Responsibilities:
- Perform basic traffic control set-ups ensuring that they meet MTO Book 7 requirements to ensure the safety of all stakeholders impacted by the site (crew members, motorists, pedestrians, etc.).
- Protect your peers, construction workers, the motoring public, cyclists, and pedestrians by regulating traffic flow.
- Interpret traffic management plans to determine correct placement of required signage and channeling devices.
- Perform multiple traffic control set-ups ensuring that they meet traffic plan requirements and the safety of all stakeholders impacted by the site (crew members, motorists, pedestrians, etc.).
- Stop traffic whenever required by the progress of work or to keep traffic moving at reduced speeds to avoid tie-ups and delays.
- Maintain a safety awareness and work in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and policies.
Qualifications:
- An appreciation and understanding of road safety.
- Able to calmly troubleshoot issues and collaborate with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to use a smartphone and enter data using computerized mobile devices.
- Comfortable working in a team environment.
- You will be required to provide your own CSA Grade 1 (green label) work boots with a minimum 6-inch cuff and electrical shock resistance (white label with omega symbol).
Work Conditions:
- Outdoor position in varying weather.
- Standing for extended periods and working around live traffic.
- Use of required personal protective equipment at all times.
