What is the opportunity?
RBC Capital Markets is seeking an experienced data and analytics leader to join our Data Services group as Associate Director, Reporting & Business Intelligence. This role is part of a cohesive group responsible for the governance, enablement, and optimization of RBC's Capital Markets analytics and reporting ecosystem. You will contribute to the strategy and delivery of reporting solutions and business intelligence platforms, partnering across business units, data engineering, and technology teams to ensure reporting capabilities support data-driven decision-making and drive operational excellence across the organization.
What will you do?
Contribute to the strategic vision and roadmap for reporting platforms and business intelligence capabilities across Capital Markets
Support the end-to-end delivery of reporting and BI initiatives, from requirements gathering through implementation, optimization, and ongoing support
Partner with business stakeholders to understand analytics needs, translate operational requirements into reporting solutions, and prioritize high-impact projects
Build and mentor a high-performing team of BI analysts, reporting specialists, and data visualization experts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence
Establish best practices, standards, and governance frameworks for reporting data quality, metadata management, and analytical security
Drive cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Finance, Risk, and Technology teams to optimize data flows and reporting processes
Provide insight and thought leadership on data visualization principles, user experience design, and analytics best practices
What do you need to succeed?
Must-Have
8+ years of experience in reporting, business intelligence, analytics, or data strategy, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership or management capacity
Proven experience building and leading high-performing analytics and BI teams
Strong expertise with modern BI platforms and ability to evaluate emerging tools
Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable reporting solutions and technical roadmaps
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to engage executives, business partners, and technical teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience identifying and resolving data quality and reporting issues
Nice-to-Have
Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with Capital Markets products and operations
Familiarity with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements for financial data
Knowledge of advanced analytics, data visualization principles, and user experience design methodologies
Experience with data lineage, metadata management, and enterprise data architecture
