In accordance with Canadian Red Cross (CRC) policies and procedures, and under the direction of the Senior Manager, Learning Solutions, the Senior Advisor - First Aid Program, Learning Solutions supports the development, coordination, and implementation of learning solutions and classroom tools within the First Aid Education portfolio. The Senior Advisor works collaboratively with Subject Matter Experts, Medical Advisors, and program stakeholders to ensure that educational materials and interventions are current, effective, and aligned with CRC's learning philosophy and best practices. The role contributes to the planning and evaluation of first aid education initiatives and supports the integration of emerging learning technologies and evidence-based instructional approaches. This position requires strong collaboration, attention to detail, and initiative to make informed recommendations that support program quality and learner engagement.
In this role, you will :
Support the Development and Implementation of Learning Interventions
- Contribute to the design and enhancement of first aid education materials, tools, and delivery resources in alignment with CRC learning standards.
- Apply instructional design principles to adapt existing content for diverse audiences and delivery formats.
- Conduct environmental scans and gather data on educational technologies and methods that could enhance learning experiences.
- Participate in needs assessments to identify instructional strategies suited to specific learner groups (e.g., youth, workplace, community).
- Collaborate with the Learning Solutions team to ensure learning materials reflect current clinical guidelines and educational science.
- Support the preparation of documentation, pilot testing, and feedback collection for program updates.
Contribute to the Evaluation and Continuous Improvement of Programs
- Assist in developing and applying evaluation methods to measure learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Collect and analyze feedback from instructors, learners, and training partners to inform future revisions.
- Participate in pilot evaluations of instructional tools and resources to assess learner engagement and knowledge retention.
- Support research or data-gathering initiatives related to learning outcomes or instructional trends as directed.
Provide Program and Instructor Support
- Serve as a resource for instructors and internal teams regarding educational materials, tools, and standards.
- Support the communication of updates, resources, and guidelines to ensure consistent delivery across programs.
- Assist in maintaining program content that is inclusive, culturally safe, and accessible to diverse populations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Business Development, Training Partner Support) to ensure program materials and tools align with stakeholder needs.
- Contribute to documentation and procedures to maintain accuracy and version control for learning content.
Promote Innovation and Collaboration
- Stay informed of developments in learning science, instructional technology, and public health education.
- Participate in internal and external communities of practice to exchange knowledge and identify best practices.
- Make recommendations for process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of learning solutions.
- Support integration of digital learning tools and innovative classroom enhancements to improve learner engagement.
What we are looking for :
- Minimum of 6-9 years of experience and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in human resources, adult learning, business and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Formal certification in instructional design.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. • Experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and delivery of complex training programs.
- Experience with designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks such as collecting and analyzing data, measuring program outcomes, and using evaluation findings to inform program improvements
- Experience in volunteer engagement or stakeholder coordination considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to design, adapt, or support learning materials for diverse audiences and delivery modes.
- Knowledge of Prevention and Safety programs and standards is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; French is an asset.
- Proficiency with Office 365 and e-learning tools such as Articulate, Brightspace, or equivalent.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Certification as a Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor or willingness to obtain certification preferred.
- Demonstrates initiative and sound judgment within established frameworks.
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Communicates clearly, both orally and in writing, with diverse audiences.
- Adheres to the Fundamental Principles and Values of the Red Cross Movement.
- Displays adaptability, creativity, and commitment to continuous learning.
Working Conditions:
- The working environment is typically remote or office-based, with occasional travel required for meetings, workshops, or program reviews.
- May be required to work flexible hours to accommodate time zones or project needs.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is required.
