As Manager, Emergency Services, you will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of fire prevention and protection, security services, ambulance operations, and mines rescue programs across Churchill Falls facilities, including the community, airport, plant, switchyards, and outlying sites.

­Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee emergency response programs for fire prevention/protection, security services, ambulance operations, and mines rescue across the community, airport, plant, switchyards, and outlying facilities.
  • Provide strategic leadership, direction, and support to the Fire & Security Supervisor, 12 Fire/Security Emergency Services personnel, and 20 Mine Rescue employees, ensuring effective program delivery and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to all departments in Churchill Falls on fire protection, security protocols, and mine rescue readiness.
  • Promote and model safe work practices, ensuring personal and team compliance with Hydro's Safety & Health Program.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in an environmentally responsible manner and aligned with corporate environmental standards.

­What We're Looking For:

  • Experienced emergency services leader with a background in firefighting, security, and rescue operations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Proven Supervisory experience;
  • Ability to facilitate group training sessions and deliver emergency response instruction effectively.

­What You'll Need:

  • High School Graduation supplemented by the completion of Fire Fighting N.F.P.A Levels I and II.
  • Training in security and policing.
  • Certification in emergency responses for: structural firefighting, underground electrical fire fighting, industrial firefighting, Hazmat, airport crash rescue, confined space rescue, cold water rescue, advanced first aid, gas detection, vehicle extrication and certification as EMR Level II First Aid.
  • Knowledge of the Mines rescue legislation as well as certification in Mines Rescue Instructor.
  • Ten (10) years' experience as a professional firefighter with five (5) years supervisory experience in the firefighting field.­ Experience in structural firefighting and crash rescue firefighting is a must.
  • Seven (7) years experience in Mines rescue field.­ ­
  • You must also possess a good working knowledge of computers with appropriate awareness of various corporate applications as necessary. These may include, but are not limited to, the Microsoft suite of applications, JD Edwards, Showcase Strategy, computerized inventory, and maintenance programs.­ A valid Class 4 driver's license with a 09 endorsement (air brake) is also required.­
  • Other combinations of experience and qualifications may also be considered.
