This position will require travel throughout the entire province of New Brunswick.

We're seeking an Occupational Hygienist - a specialized role that plays a key part in protecting workers' health across New Brunswick.

  1. Occupational Hygiene Technologist
  2. Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologist (ROHT)
  3. Occupational Hygienist

The Occupational Hygienist Technologist, The Certified Occupational Hygiene Technologist and The Occupational Hygienist improve the health and safety in New Brunswick workplaces by identifying the environmental factors or stressors that may result in injury, illness, impairment, or affect the well-being of workers. This is achieved by working with employers and employees in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of physical, chemical, and biological agents, ergonomic, and psychosocial stressors in the workplace.

Your key areas of responsibility are:

  • Promote healthy and safe workplaces across the province through workplace inspections and the enforcement of the New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations.
  • Investigate work refusals, and follow-up on occupational exposures and complaints.
  • Conduct sampling and analysis of workplace contaminants and associated worker exposures, to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and applicable standards.
  • Research, educate on and respond to occupational hygiene matters as well as new and emerging issues in workplaces.

You as a qualified candidate will meet the following:

Occupational Hygiene Technologist

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, engineering, physics or an accredited degree program in industrial hygiene or safety.
  • One (1) year or more years of work experience preferred in the field of occupational hygiene or occupational health and safety.
  • Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologist (ROHT) must be completed within 2 years of eligibility for ROHT exam.
  • Certificate in Administrative Justice (FOAJ) must be completed within 3 years of employment.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered provided it will allow the incumbent to qualify to challenge the CRBOH ROHT exam.

Certified Occupational Hygiene Technologist

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, engineering, physics or an accredited degree program in industrial hygiene or safety.
  • One (1) year or more years of work experience preferred in the field of occupational hygiene or occupational health and safety.
  • Certified with or eligible to become a certified occupational hygiene technologist through the Canadian Registration Board on Occupational Hygiene (ROHT).

Occupational Hygienist

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, chemistry, industrial hygiene, physics.
  • Three (3) years of work experience as an Occupational Hygienist.
  • Knowledge and understanding of court proceedings and process.

Written and spoken competence in English and spoken competence in French is required. Written and spoken competence in English and French is considered an asset.

A valid driver's license, and the ability to travel within the province, will be required for on-site work with employers and employees.

2026 Pay Scales

  • Occupational Hygiene Technologist: $74,995.50 to $88,230.00
  • Certified Occupational Hygiene Technologist: $82,971.90 to $97,614.00.
  • Occupational Hygienist: $92,248.80 to $108,528.00

Your primary workspace will be from your in-home office, with the expectation of travel in the province for on-site work with employers and in person team meetings. For these reasons, working from outside the province of New Brunswick, or country, is not permissible.
