What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of personal banking account (PBA) products (retail chequing accounts). You will help set and execute the strategic direction of PBA products to drive volume, optimize profitability, and improve client satisfaction. You will oversee portfolio management functions and ensure strong risk management foundations.

You will have P&L accountability and manage account pricing, features, fees, account / balance volumes and profitability (where controlled). In addition to Personal Bank Accounts (PBA), you will also support Safe Deposit Boxes (SDB) and Precious Metals products.

This is a key "Win for Today" role in the Everyday Banking team that will help drive Empower 2030 goals of Providing Exceptional Value Propositions and Driving Scale and Efficiency – underpinned by a prudent risk culture.

You will report to the Director, Personal Banking Accounts, and be a leader of a dynamic, collaborative, innovative and high-performing team. You will be expected to contribute to team culture, consistent with the RBC Leadership Model.

What will you do?

  • Lead general management of the banking account product portfolio, including business performance, P&L management, risk management, reporting, and forecasting

  • Develop deep understanding of product profitability levers to drive sustainable growth, measure P&L performance of existing products and programs and identify opportunities for performance improvement

  • Lead business reporting, such as monthly and quarterly reviews, and strategic annual planning & forecasting processes with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights

  • Contribute to defining the strategic direction of the PBA portfolio, including monitoring industry trends, market share, competitive dynamics (traditional banks and fintechs) and regulatory changes

  • Manage and address client escalations on a timely basis by liaising with appropriate partners

  • Support the Director, PBA Strategy as required to position the product shelf for the future, aligned to enterprise objectives for creating client reciprocity

  • Act as the business lead and representative for PBA, identifying and executing pricing changes through the enterprise Service Pricing project to meet disclosure updates, contractual obligations, and revenue targets

  • Effectively collaborate with enterprise partners to successfully execute and implement product strategy (go-to-market) - including Client Growth, Acquisition / Retention, Segment teams as well as Fraud, GRM, Legal, Operations, Marketing etc.

  • Ensure prudent risk management (reputational, strategic, regulatory, etc.) and lead client remediations. Work with Legal, Compliance, Privacy and Risk partners to ensure all products and policies comply with legal and regulatory requirements: Bank Act, Provincial Legislation, Privacy, OSFI, FCAC etc.

  • Own all PBA, SDB and Precious Metal content and related policy and procedures, ensuring accuracy and marketability (where applicable)

  • Responsible for relationship management with external and internal partners, representing PBA in strategic initiatives

  • Storytelling capabilities – ability to impact and influence at RBC by making compelling presentations, telling stories with data, and elevating messages for executive audiences

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines

  • Outstanding proficiency in MS Office applications Power Point, Excel, Word

  • University degree

Nice-to-have

  • Prior experience in product and P&L management

  • Strong knowledge of the Personal Banking landscape

  • Prior experience in Management Consulting

  • Prior experience managing regulatory initiatives

  • Prior experience in go-to-market

  • MBA
