JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent will report to the Regional Manager of Accounts Receivable. They will be responsible for Medicare-related billing and collection for expenses incurred by physicians, financial management of numerous physician contracts, and coordination of the activities of the two senior accounting clerks involved in billing. They will also be responsible for managing and maintaining the billing system for medical services. They will need to maintain a good relationship with physicians, the medical director, physician offices, Medicare and the New Brunswick Medical Society. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and implementing changes made by Medicare. They will manage Medicare accounts receivable that are physically located in other zones. They will balance Medicare accounts, reconcile Medicare account statements, perform monthly analyses of locum physicians' deficits, and authorize certain payments. They will also be required to perform accounts receivable-related tasks, such as balancing and reconciling certain accounts, perform month-end closing in external billing software, make journal entries and maintain certain dictionaries. The incumbent will implement and maintain consistent processes throughout Vitalité Health Network. The duties of the position will involve travel within Vitalité Health Network's territory, to support employees and managers. They may be assigned other duties, depending on the operational needs of financial services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration with concentration in accounting;
  • Combination of training and experience deemed equivalent may be considered;
  • Minimum of five years' relevant experience in financial accounting;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in establishing and implementing best practices;
  • Knowledge of Medicare practices and procedures considered an asset;
  • Ability to set priorities and meet objectives;
  • Ability to handle many projects/tasks at once, and understanding of organizational needs and priorities;
  • Analytical, writing and synthesis skills;
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office);
  • Ability to understand and use various software programs;
  • Availability to travel within Vitalité Health Network's territory;
  • Complex problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, Vitalité Health Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
