Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are valuable members of the interdisciplinary health care team. LPNs provide direct nursing care to stable and unstable clients/patients/residents under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The LPN I in the Children and Women's Health Program works within their individual scope of practice is responsible for health assessment, medication administration, nursing care planning, disease management, wound care, end of life care and may provide mentoring and direction to students and other staff.

Regularly requires physical exertion and handling, moving, pushing, or pulling objects between 10 - 15 lbs and occasionally required to support, lift, or move patients/objects up to 30 lbs.
Regularly required to work in awkward cramped positions (bending/kneeling/stretching) and constantly standing and moving about.
Regularly pushes and pulls objects using light to medium forces and stands and walks.
Regularly requires visual concentration to give medications, read orders/referrals, patients' charts/document, observe and treat patients combined with time pressures and deadlines.
Job Qualifications
Successful completion of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program.
Current licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL).
Current BLS certification is required.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
