Site Description:


The Quest Regional Rehabilitation Centre is located in Lower Sackville. This service offers intensive support for 24 clients who reside at the site to build skills and community supports which assist clients to move to smaller community settings which enhance their new skills and allow for maximal community access.


Position Details:

Position: Causal Security Guard
Site: Quest

70 Memory Ln, Lower Sackville, NS B4C 2J3
Hours: 12 hour shifts
Payrate: $20.50

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of facility premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the facility, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist facility staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, residents, and facility staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Collaboration with Facility Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Enforce Facility Policies: Ensure that policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds healthcare safety standards

Prerequisites:

  • Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
