About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team, to provide specialized nursing care and to provide preventative, promotion, supportive, rehabilitative, and curative interventions within Surgical Services at the Labrador West Health Centre. The Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Manager of Patient Services. A return in service agreement may be required.
Qualifications:
? Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
? Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador
(CRNNL) is required;
? Surgical Services Education Program or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
? Successful completion of NRP, ACLS, TNCC and Medevac are considered an asset;
? Breastfeeding education/course;
? Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector
Screening;
? Preference will be given to the candidate with current OR experience and/or a recognized post basic course.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
? Provide safe nursing care to clients in the Surgical Suite, including Post-op Recovery Room, Endoscopy, and Day
Surgery;
? Complete an accurate record of care throughout the client's stay in Surgical Services;
? Complete inventory of unit narcotics and controlled drugs;
? Be familiar with the operation of the equipment in the Surgical Suite and Day Surgery;
? Assess equipment function and reports malfunctions;
? Maintain a safe level of supplies;
? Performs other related duties as assigned.
