Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, is seeking to fill a Financial Controller position to join them in-office in St. John's, NL. The client has been providing service in the heavy civil industry for over 25 years in the St. John's area and province.
Position Summary:
The Financial Controller will manage finance functions while supporting the executive team with strategic insights. This role requires a strong background in construction finance, including job costing, margin analysis, WIP reporting, and cash flow management. The successful candidate will ensure accurate reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and will provide leadership to the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial statements, project margin reports, and WIP schedules.
- Partner with operations to support estimating, project costing, and performance tracking.
- Ensure compliance with CRA, HST, Workplace NL, and other regulatory filings.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Provide financial analysis to support decision-making on equipment, capital expenditures, and project bids.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation preferred, or equivalent senior accounting/finance experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting leadership, ideally within construction, paving, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and project-based accounting.
- Proven experience managing banking relationships and external reporting requirements.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
