The Town of Gambo, a vibrant and community-driven municipality on Newfoundland's Kittiwake Coast is seeking a forward-thinking Town Manager to lead municipal operations and help shape the Town's future. About the Role
As the Town's senior administrative leader, the Town Manager is a driving force behind Gambo's growth, innovation, and long-term success. In this role, you will work with council to lead the municipal team, including the CAO, Town Clerk ensuring services are delivered with excellence, transparency, and a strong commitment to the community. The Town Manager will also be overseeing the Gambo Fire Department and Gambo Sports and Recreation. You will guide major initiatives, while building meaningful partnerships with residents, local businesses, and government stakeholders. This will also allow you introduce and guide new ideas. Serving as an advisor to Council, you will provide clear communication, strategic insight, and recommendations that help shape the Town's future. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Planning:
- Lead development and implementation of municipal strategies and goals.
- Oversee performance standards, KPIs, and service quality.
- Provide Council with insight, analysis, and recommendations.
- Administrative & Operational Management:
- Guide organizational structure, staffing needs, training, and evaluations.
- Ensure audits, financial accountability, and internal controls.
- Oversee public works, infrastructure, and capital projects.
- Governance & Council Support:
- Attend Council and Committee meetings.
- Provide reports, policy advice, and legislative compliance.
- Coordinate legal, legislative, and by-law processes.
- Human Resources & Labour Relations:
- Lead in a unionized environment.
- Support collective agreement administration.
- Promote employee development and a positive workplace.
- Community & Stakeholder Relations:
- Engage with residents, businesses, and community groups.
- Maintain strong relationships with government partners.
- Ensure effective public communication.
Qualifications
- A degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field (graduate degree preferred) or experience.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in municipal or public-sector leadership.
- Demonstrated success in financial management, HR leadership, and planning.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of municipal operations, by-laws, capital works, and emergency planning.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
