The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the health care team under the direction of
the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, providing a high standard of care to clients at the Labrador
West Health Centre and in accordance with the LG Model of Nursing Clinical Practice. The employee is
responsible for ensuring a safe environment for clients, families, co-workers, and themselves, and reports to the
Manager of Patient Services.
Qualifications:
? Graduation from high school or equivalency;
? Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
? Successful completion of Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVIC) or willingness to complete (within
timeframe designated by the employer);
? Successful completion of Mosby?s Suite Suicide Assessment and Precautions or willingness to
complete (within timeframe designated by the employer);
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct.
Duties:
? Obtains reports on client?s behaviour and plan of care, specifically relating to safety and security issues;
? Observes and monitors the client?s behaviour related to safety and security, and reports any changes or
concerns;
? Maintains visual observation of the client at all times, ensuring the client is never left unattended;
? Responds to client?s needs and requests in consultation with the assigned nurse;
? Documents according to organizational policies and unit guidelines;
? Maintains strict confidentiality on all matters related to the client;
? Other related duties as required.
