The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Client Services Supervisor, the Property Maintenance is responsible for winter grounds care and property maintenance, including salting and shoveling walkways. This position also performs housekeeping and janitorial services, while ensuring adherence to the standards and practices established by Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency.
- Perform winter snow and ice clearance duties, including salting and shoveling of snow from steps, landings, emergency exits, ramps and walkways. Clean storm sewers and catch pits, as needed.
- Maintain the cleanliness of common areas such as elevators, laundry rooms, public washrooms, lounges, recreation areas, storage rooms, etc.
- Prepare garbage for removal, clean garbage rooms/chutes, and wash/wax floors.
- Perform inspections throughout the entire building to determine the cleanliness and security of the building.
What We're Looking For
Must Have
- Grade 12 or high school equivalent plus two years' related experience.
- Ability to understand and operate equipment involved in cleaning and tools related to ground maintenance appropriately and safely. Ability to properly handle cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion, sound judgment and initiative when investigating, questioning, and dealing with inquiries, requests and submissions that are sensitive and confidential in nature.

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered.
